Ans. Golden Dragon School, is a Goa based Arts School specialising in the various Art forms such as Self defence, Yoga, Gymnastics, Parkour, Dance, Archery & Fitness. Training at Golden Dragon School is not just training to perform, but it is a comprehensive Mind, Body and Spirit Learning system, with each component being complimentary to the other.
Q : I am a bit overweight; can Martial Arts training help me slim down?
Ans. At GDSMA, Martial Arts training include jogging, sparring, combination kicks/punches, empty hand Forms, weapons forms, weapons training, etc. All the above activities help in some form or the other to reduce weight and maintain physical fitness. The training is based on ones physical fitness and we do understand that in some cases, we have to slowly increase the pace of training keeping in mind the student’s age and physical fitness level. Therefore, the training is designed to be gradual and enjoying. We pay special individual attention to each and every student and help them progress at a level that is comfortable to themselves. Besides, this we offer several other Fitness programmes (Body Combat, Tai Chi etc).
Q: “Does martial arts, Wing Chun Kungfu, karate, Kick Boxing make kids violent?”
No way! At Team Golden dragon Martial arts is about peace, harmony and diplomacy. It teaches children how to AVOID fights – not pick them.
Q: “Can my child get injured whilst training?”
As a parent, I’m sure you’ve seen that kids can get injured doing just about anything. At Golden Dragon training is no different, however we take safety very seriously here. Yes, injuries do sometimes happen. But we do everything in our power to avoid them. We do special exercises and stretches to make your child’s body limber and flexible. And we’re ALWAYS keeping a very close eye on everything going on.
Q: “My child isn't athletic. Can he/she still participate ?”
Absolutely. Most of the Arts taught at Team Golden Dragon teaches kids to be coordinated, flexible and strong. Kids who don’t naturally have these qualities develop them. Kids who do have these qualities grow them even more.
Q: “Is it fun for children to learn gymnastics /yoga /Dance or Martial arts?
Absolutely! In fact, kids usually have to drag their parents to any of our art class ( Be it Yoga, Martial Arts or Gymnastics) – something parents are always shocked to see. We have our serious moments here where kids work and learn… but we have just as many moments where they goof off and have a blast!
Q: “Do children's confidence & self-esteem grow with martial arts?”
Absolutely. Kid with low self-esteem often come out of their shells. As their skill level increases, they feel more and more confident. Other kids look up to them, just as they look up to other kids who are ahead of them. It builds a sense of confidence, pride, and teamwork.
Q: “What's a good age for a child to start?”
Honestly, practically every age is a good age to start! We have children as young as 3 years old, as well as teenagers. We also have specific programs for adults. So no matter where you or your child is on the age spectrum – we’ve got you covered.
Q: “Do boys AND girls learn Martial art or Gymnastics??”
Yes! We have a good mix of both girls and boys in our kids martial arts/Gymnastics/ Yoga & Fitness classes! Some people think that the boys are much “stronger and tougher,” but in reality this is not true. In fact, often girls are the stronger ones!
